LOOK...RECLAIMED AND NEGLECTED IN TEXAS

Hi there... these are my "Reclaimed Deal" I have purchased a total of 5 of these Chippendale Chairs. ( The 6th chair sadly was not able to be repaired...bummer). I did not let that stop me...though there are only 5. These chairs have been totally neglected but have much potential. I love their intricate detailing and graceful lines. As soon as I saw them... I saw them differently...I can hardly wait to show you the results and I will when these chairs get the look they so need to compliment their neglected state. The weather today here in Texas is suppose to be around 69 degrees and it's perfect weather for an outdoor project...

My birthday presented some Bling! Shabby Chic style

UPDATE: I WENT BACK TO "GOODWILL" THIS A.M. AND PURCHASED THE OTHER PIC...IT WAS STILL THERE THIS ONE I WILL GIVE TO MY MOM. $5 WHAT A BUY **"SEE NOTES BELOW"
Look at all the Bling on this Birthday present that I received last week!

Look at this Fabuloussssssss Sconce!!!!! A birthday gift from my moma and grandmoma.... it is dripping in crystals! So Gaudy so Chicccccc!

This pair of Tole Candle Sconces I picked up at Canton Trade Days. They will be dripping in crystals when I get out my handy little drill bit!

Pleazzzzzzzzzzzz Look at this awesome vintage garland for Christmas that I was fortunate to run across again at Canton Trade Days. Ipurchased 3 pieces 8 foot in each length! Can hardly wait to use it "Somewhere" This is a "Goodwill" find. Purchased it for $5 it was gold but I fell into immediate like with the texture. Spray painted it...
"Get this...there were 2 and I only purchased one! I'm going back...maybe it's still there! I'll let you know!

It's kind of like a Styrofoam piece (very light weight) I've got just the place for it!

NEED AN AWESOME BLUE FOR YOUR EXTERIOR PAINT COLOR? I have chosen an Awesome Blue for House Color.

A few weeks back we built this storage building building better known as the "ManShed". We painted it a lovely shade of yellow but then we had the roof redone and the cinnamon color of the roof and the yellow of the body color was just running together (too much blend and not enough contrast so since we haven't gotten to the exterior of our house yet...I repainted. These are the kind of colors that just scream cottage (and blue is such a peaceful color that I'm all about it!

I live in an absolutely gorgeous historical neighborhood and it was difficult to pick a color combination that was not already chosen but I feel I made the best choice.*special note* if you are looking for a blue as I was have someone make you up a sample ...this body color (Sleepy Blue) looks nothing like the color card.

There is a whole lot of my roof showing it's the way the slopes are done so instead of going forward with my plan of the marigold yellow I totally changed and came up with this wonderful combination. The (body) is Sleepy Blue *which really isn't sleepy at all.. it is super soft ...my husband says it's sky blue... and the (trim) is Greek Villa *which reminds me of vanilla ice cream. I chose to use the Coffee Bean Brown as an accent since my husband doesn't really like black on the outside of a house. I love black doors but in this case the brown is the best choice. Can't you just see it with the white picket fence and lots of roses??. I've been so busy on the inside to get a color chosen helps me to go forward with plans for the exterior walkways and such.

Do you need to Paint a Plastic Door? Here's How.

After: The coverage is great and because the product is water base just rinse your brush and you are done!
I just finished painting the shed door and You really need to use a product on your door if it is plastic before you apply the paint.
I have yet to scrape off the glass but I wanted to get a pic before the sun set.

All you need is a paint brush or small sprayer if you have one. I use a good quality brush always which in this case is Purdy.

This product is called Adhesion Primer (I purchased this can at Sherwin Williams so I am unsure if Lowes or Home Depot has it. They may carry it I've never checked. It is a clear primer that you use on the plastic door before you apply your paint. Oh yea, did I mention it's water-based. Love that.

Before Paint...I once painted a new door that was plastic with just paint. I fought it the entire time. It dripped and ran and had to be sanded off and repainted with this method. So since I didn't know the first time..I thought someone else might need to have this tip! LOL!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas Tree and Decor

Okay!!!Okay!!!! Don't get in a panic It's just me bubbling over a holiday that just makes me HAPPY....I so enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh, the holidays ...making time for family and friends...all the cooking...I bake alot during the holidays I just love to have something handy in case a friend stops by. I can't help it...many a time I've run to the car with a basket, plate or tray of goodies just to deliver it to someone else's house. It's about giving and that's what gives me pleasure. I enjoy letting friends and family know how special they are to me. Oh yeah did I mention I usually gain weight? A minor detail. (AND BEFORE I FORGET I'M COPYING THIS LOOK DON'T THESE STOCKINGS LOOK SOFT??)

Looks like Santa stopped at this Gold and White Tree?? I just wanted to share some trees that I've come across ...It's getting to be the time we pull our decor out of garages and attics and do inventory. So Enjoy...more to come next Friday.Today it's about "White".

A light dusting of snow...Isn't this a great royal blue?

Love this bucket thing...It's a Country Christmas.
How about some feathers to soften your look??

Pretty Paper...Pretty Ribbon..Pretty Bows Star light... Star bright

Who doesn't love a Crystal Tree?

Hope you've enjoyed the show..check back next week for more ideas where I will feature a different color.

It is so harrrrd to believe that...dare I say it ...that Christmas is around the corner. I'm thinking of it a bit early this year since our family is getting together... some 40-60 people and we've been thinking outloud..

My mom and I have been digging through Christmas decorations. You know tossing the old trying to add a couple of items here and there to make it alittle different than last year. I am looking for a "White Christmas" for one of my trees and thought some of you maybe also. So I got on Google and went through several pages and come of with these for some early inspiration!

WOW FACTOR NOW...FINISHED WITH CEILINGS AND WALLS IN MASTERBATH.

THIS REALLY CAME OUT LOVELY AND I AM SO GLAD WE TOOK THE TIME TO DO IT. THE COLOR OF STAIN AS SEEN IN PREVIOUS POST IS (WILLOW REED) MY FLOORS ARE EBONY AND IT'S A GREAT COMPLIMENT TO THEM.

THE WALL COLOR IS CALLED "EGRET" IT'S A VALSPAR MATCH FROM LOWES.

I TOOK SOME EXTRA TIME I WENT OVER THE GRILL AND FAN GRILLS WITH A RUSTOLEUM BROWN PAINT IN A SATIN SHEEN. THEY JUMPED OUT BEFORE BUT NOW THEY SOMEWHAT DISAPPEAR. I chose rustoleum because of ease of cleaning and water resistance.

It came out so good... that we will be doing the kitchen the same way (in the near future). My ceilings are all alittle above 10 feet and it really warms all the white.
Not to mention adds great texture.

Show me the Bristles of a White Paint Brush and I'm all about it!

Took a couple of old chairs that I had one stained and one that was painted green and did a makeover...distressed and replaced the seat cushions with some off-white canvas. The pic above shows the old green paint showing through and I really like that. Slowly but surely all 6 chairs will see the bristles of a white paintbrush!

Don't they look great??

The before...can you believe I remembered the camera?
Now not all men are like this ...but when I take a chair that my husband calls (perfectly good and go towards it with a paint can he just looks horrified) he always likes the results but he just hates to cover stain...I on the other hand have no problem doing it.

Crown Molding for the Queen of the Master Bath

I know...I know... My attire is not that of the "Queen". But the Crown Molding is at the Queen's request... 5"wide with 2 additional pieces making it approx 7" for the final width it's great that the "King" is so handy.
Always my helper at my side. Billie (our cat who my husband calls Bill) she's now 18 years old and she follows along then lays down (anywhere she can).
Okay I'm tired I'll admit it. I've primed and painted crown molding for the masterbath and.... for the living room....Along with what you see here I've also painted 20 other sticks that will go with what you see. These boards are 16 feet long. Can't wait to show you the final view. I've also painted the fan covers and the vent cover with rustoleum paint. From the look of my t-shirt it would seem that I've got more on me than the boards however this shirt has seen many projects! LOL Until next time.

Do you NEED to find a great OFF-WHITE in a spray can??

I ALWAYS GET IN SUCH A HURRY.... I FORGET TO TAKE "BEFORE'S"... BUT I DO HAVE 1 FOR YOU.

GREAT PITCHER AND BOWL BUT ALITTLE TOO VICTORIAN FOR WHERE I AM NOW.

GEORGOUS COVERAGE ... AND IT LOOKS JUST AS GOOD IN PERSON.

RUST-OLEUM HEIRLOOM WHITE (THESE ARE ALL SATIN)
THE LITTLE VASE WAS... DARK BLUE...

SO MUCH BETTER FOR ALL MY OFF WHITES...

I will distress the "Joy" one with a tinted tobacco stain.
I've got a great spray paint that I use frequently and thought someone might like to know about it. My husband calls me the spray bomb queen because once a put my hand on the trigger there's a fog all around me. I always start out to do one project which turns into to two or three or...
1. I buy Home Depot's rust-oleum "Heirloom white" I prefer the satin but it also comes in gloss.
2. ***BIG TIP***If you are painting something other than white buy a cheaper white paint and use as a base coat you'll save $$$...Rust-oleum makes a primer and it's good but for me the inexpensive white makes a great primer at a fraction of the cost. These are a few items I did today.

"Wonderfully White" Oh what a feelin'

This is how I started my week last week...20 yds of fabric.
A couple of days later this is what I had...so "Oh, what a feeling".

The pics below are where I came from... great sofa just too busy for my room.

I've gotta say it's a transformation. Okay let me go back to some previous post FOR A MUCH NEEDED SOURCE. I use a DVD from HTTP://DIYSLIPCOVERS.COM.
The teacher and my friend John French...he is fabulous and his slipcover method a must see. How did I meet John? On the internet of course. I've completed numerous projects with his methods and because John uses the pattern method it's great for a beginner or a novice. I learned the basics and then I just have kept sewing...By making a pattern I can give a facelift to a chair over and over and the only thing that cost me is "fabric".
Do I get a plug for referring him "NO" what I do get is the satisfaction of a great slipcover where literally I saved 100's of dollars because I did the work myself.
On this sofa alone I have saved $400.00 how do I know this?? I contacted my upholstery guy.

Oh yeah this photo on the bottom after I finished the above sofa I went on to my sitting room..follow to see "before and after".

Wonderfully White with alittle Drama

A week ago I decided to paint white over my little pink cabinet. That's how this started.

Next thing I know I'm removing some pink that I had accumulated.
The dusting on the carpet is carpet cleaner. Ooooops!
I enjoy sitting in this sitting room the sunlight that streams in from the door and 84" windows is fantastic and I just feel good when I sit in this room. It's the room that not only puts a smile on my face. It's the one that gives me energy. White can be very cool the black roots it and gives it some drama. We all could use a little DRAMA. The quilted fabric makes it warm and inviting.

Quilted: I used 1 king size and 1 full for all the black and white toile pieces.

Out with Summer and in with the Winter.I have removed the floral pillows and sewed new slipcovers for cushions and made pillows to loose that summer feel. The chill is in the air and I looooove to feel cozy and I enjoy things that are SOFT....I took 2 quilts that I had and CUT THEM UP (Yeah!! @#!": I cut up quilts they just didn't work in the bedrooms...don't worry it's not illegal)... for seat cushions complete with zippers for ease of washing. I've made 4 (24"x24") pillows and 2 small bolster pillows. I've removed floral cups, saucers, floral pillows with only a bare minimum of pink to remain. I've added in lots more white of multiple shades. I love various shades of whites I think they compliment each other and give a white room's decor.. texture. You will never see one of my rooms with only one shade of white. I have always loved black and cream toile with splashes of white to complement. The quilt just makes you feel like sitting for a spell.I've already had a friend over and she said they just make her want to.. sit down (actually she said, "curl up").What a compliment exactly what I was going for @#!<: **note some of the accessories may be different from pic to pic because I move them around until...they feel right. Know what I mean?. I'm rushing around to put my house back together but just wanted to say Hi to my friends! So....Hi

Pumpkins & Lil' Dude ready for Fall.October 1st

From the local "Goodwill" to my front yard. Now don't forget I'm restoring an old farmhouse from 1908 so presently the exterior is lacking in ...should I say design...However now we have character or at least... "a character".

Meet "Little Dude"...he actually looks a little different now...he has Straw for hair and a Styrofoam head. He makes me smile. He reminds me of one of our boys the way he's crouched down in the chair.I've also added a window with words but it's too dark outside to get a current photo...so I will post an addit pic of "Lil Dude" tomorrow or.... I'd better say Saturday. I've had a very busy week...I've also been completing another slipcover and have only the tabs to go to being finished so I'll post that tomorrow or Saturday as well. Hope everyone has had a great week mine has gone by wayyyyy too fast....Happy Harvest to all...I just l0000ove the chill in the air.

Color Me Happy the White Way

I love it White....Distressed and Beeeeeeeautiful. Now all that detail that was missed... jumps out. Are you feelin' it???...the white way.

I always wait awhile and live with items before I apply paint. But this is one of those projects where I asked myself "why?" Why did I wait so long absolutely love this piece painted. It's an old ship captains desk (dark walnut) and has aaaaaaalot of imperfections that were eliminated with paint. Can you feel the love???
**Ooooops, sorry forgot to photograph the before.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT??

So what's LOVE got to do with it???

It's not hard to see why this is loved at my house it houses my antique china and collectibles. It is small and fits in a corner of my sitting room.

I have "loved" my little china cabinet ever since I first got it for $50. It was painted the bright pink that you see featured on my blog header and I've lived with it that way for about 9 months. Now it's been given a new birth (and like every new baby) it is loved.

Hard to photograph but the light pink shows thru with just a hint of color making it really like cotton candy. "So shabby so chic..."
